Where there is love, there is hope.

Where there is hope, there is faith.

Where there is love, hope and faith,

Miracles can occur!

Don't take your organs to Heaven,

Heaven Knows we need them here.

Thank you to all who generously donated to Ashley's Transplant Fund.

Goal $75,000

$20,000 since 6/25/08

Your donation is greatly appreciated and we are eternally grateful to all the individuals and companies who have included Ashley in their prayers and thoughts.

There are two different ways you can donate to Ashley's Liver Transplant Fund.  You can donate by mailing a check to the American Liver Foundation or by submitting  your donation via PayPal.  However you decide to donate, all donations will go toward Ashley's pre and post transplant related expenses.

The cost of a liver transplant vary from center to center but the cost on average is between $350,00 to $750,00.  Ashley's insurance will pay most of the cost associated with the liver transplant leaving just 10% as out-of-pocket expenses for Ashley's family. This cost does not include a Living Related Liver Transplant, if Ashley's dad were to donate a piece of his liver to her.

The costs of  a transplant include transplant evaluation and testing, transplant surgery and follow-up care and medication. Pre transplant expenses include medical bills for treatment  the physician, hospital, laboratories and medical specialists. These costs add up quickly.

Costs the first year post liver transplant is approximately $320, 000

Other costs associated with transplantation include:

  • recovery and in-hospital stay

  • extensive lab tests

  • anesthesia

  • fees for transplant surgeons and operating room personnel

  • organ recovery

  • transportation to hospital (including air transport charges if necessary)

  • lodging, transportation and food for family members while the patient is hospitalized

  • physical therapy and rehabilitation

  • patient lodging following discharge (patients who live more than 50 miles away must stay near hospital for 30 days following discharge)

  • anti-rejection drugs and other medications (these costs can easily exceed $10,000 in the first year, and some of these medications are required for the rest of a transplant recipient's life.

  •

Ashley's transplant center is Shands Hospital which located in Gainesville, Florida which is a 2 1/2 hour drive.  Ashley has traveled to Shands at least once month since June 2006 some of these visits required overnight stays at local hotels.

As you can see, your donation will help in many ways, but the most important way it helps is providing Ashley's parents with a sense of peace and financial stability in a time of great stress.

    Thank you for donation.
